Moderately large to large shell, heavy, glossy, with an almost straight profile; shoulder angled. The spire is low to moderately low, with a pointed protoconch. The ground color of the body whorl and the spire whitish, with numerous irregular wavy axial reddish lines, usually more or less interrupted by two lighter spiral bands. The aperture is white. Brown, thick and opaque periostracum.
Trawled at 50 – 60 fths.
C. bellocqae may resemble those of C. pulcher but is more slender without the typical pattern of the latter. The large size, color pattern and general shape of the shell seperates C. bellocqae from and C. tabidus.
