Angolan Cone Species Information

 

Based on WORMS 2018/2019.

 

The majority of Angolan cones are found in the subgenus Conus (Lautoconus) Monterosato, 1923.

 

The exceptions are C. genuanus Linneaus, 1758 and C. pulcher [Lightfoot,1786] in Conus(Kalloconus), C. ermineus Born ,1778 in Conus(Chelyconus), C. tabidus Reeve, 1844 in Conus(Monteiroconus)and C. carnalis Sowerby III, 1879 in Conus(Pseudonoduloconus.)

C. carnalis is found only in Namibe and Benguela provinces, Angola

Species(32) found only in Benguela and Namibe provinces, Angola. All in Lautoconus except C. carnalis.

C. obtusus Kiener, 1850 considered a synonym of C. variegatus.(often used as form name)
