Description

The shell is small to very small (normal length about 17 mm), light to moderately light, the last whorl ovate to ventricosely conical, shoulder rounded. Outline convex at adapical third, nearly straight below. Spire low to moderately high, with a straight, convex or sigmoid profile. Sutural ramps flat to convex, with fine spiral striae. Last whorl smooth, with about 10 spiral grooves at base.

Ground colour of the shell dark to blackish-brown, with axial white bars and streaks, sometimes with short spiral dashes, usually forming a broad spiral band at the central portion of the shell. Irregular white spots at the shoulder and base. Bluish aperture.

Radula: relatively large, wide tooth, with a short apical portion. 14 – 20 denticles on the serration, arranged in two rows.
